UPWARD-FACING BOW POSE AT THE WALL AND WITH YOUR FEET ELEVATED ON BLOCKS (Figure 18.3). Spread your mat on a level, smooth surface, with the short side against a wall. Place the short sides of your blocks securely against the wall. Lie on your back, and with an exhalation, bend your knees, one by one, and place your feet on the tops of the blocks.

Come into the pose as previously described. It will take a little more work to get up using the blocks, but using the blocks under the feet will help take pressure off your lower back once you are there. Make sure that your feet press the blocks firmly. As you breathe, lift your breastbone up and out toward the center of the room, and move your pelvis toward the wall. Stay in the pose for three to seven breaths. Come down by bending your elbows, place your pelvis on the mat, and then roll down onto your shoulders
